]]>Snow White puts a modern twist on Disney’s 1937 classic we all know and love, and it will reunite us with one of Disney’s most beloved princesses. Snow White must adjust to a new life in the forest when the Seven Dwarfs come to her rescue, giving her a home after she’s been exiled by her evil stepmother.
Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot will lead the cast of this live-action remake, and they shared the first trailer with Disney fans at the D23 Expo. Zegler gushed about her leading role and said it’s been the honor of a lifetime to step into Snow White’s shoes.
Zegler and Gadot will be joined by Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Dujonna Gift as Maple, Martin Klebba as Grumpy, and Colin Michael Carmichael in a mystery role. Disney decided to use CGI for the Seven Dwarfs, but they’re yet to cast voice actors in most of these roles.
Snow White will debut in theaters on March 21, 2025, before streaming on Disney+ at a later date.

]]>Marvel fans at Comic-Con were treated to one epic surprise after another, but the announcement of the new Doctor Doom was certainly the most epic moment. The crowd of 6,500 people erupted into applause when a man in green stepped on stage, revealing he was Robert Downey Jr. after taking off the mask.
The Russo brothers described his casting as “proof of the unimaginable possibilities of the Marvel Universe.” They’re returning to direct Downey in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, set to hit the theatres in 2026 and 2027.
Seeing Downey cast as Doctor Doom was quite a shocker for fans, but he made it clear he’d be happy to return to the MCU after winning an Oscar for Oppenheimer.
“It’s too integral a part of my DNA. That role chose me. And look, I always say, ‘Never, ever bet against Kevin Feige.’ It is a losing bet. He’s the house. He will always win,” he told Esquire earlier this year.

]]>I Know What You Did Last Summer originally came out in 1997 and centered on a group of young friends trying to live to see another day after a hook-wielding killer starts haunting them, seeking revenge after they tried to cover up a car accident that had tragic consequences.
Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr. led the cast of the original film, which later produced two more sequels. The door is open for the return of several original cast members, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
What we know so far is that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) is directing the reboot, and she rounded out a pretty impressive young cast. Camila Mendes (Riverdale) and Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks) will lead the way, and they’ll be joined by Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid), Sarah Pidgeon (The Wilds), and Tyriq Withers (Tell Me Lies).

]]>When we were first introduced to Lucius Verus in Gladiator, he was just a young man with a bright future ahead of him. The son of Marcus Aurelius and Lucilla was in line to sit on the throne of the Roman Empire, but he’s been living in obscurity ever since.
His peaceful life in the coastal town of Numidia comes to a halt after he’s snatched from his home by the Roman army. He’s forced to fight in the arena as a gladiator, and he’s determined to use his time in the spotlight to challenge the rule of emperors Caracalla and Geta.
In addition to Paul Mescal in the lead role, the star-studded cast of Gladiator II also includes Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, plus Fred Hechinger, Derek Jacobi, May Calamawy, Tim McInnerny, Alexander Karim, and Rory McCann in supporting roles.
Gladiator II will arrive in theatres worldwide on November 15, before premiering in North America on November 22.

]]>Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker behind such indie classics as The Florida Project and Red Rocket, Anora centers on the NYC exotic dancer whose elopement to the son of a Russian oligarch quickly turns sour after his parents decide to force an annulment.
Main competition jury president Greta Gerwig admitted it wasn’t easy to pick a winner because this year’s selection was an embarrassment of riches. They eventually decided to go with Anora because it’s an “incredibly human and humane film that captured our hearts.”
Anora is quite a success for its distributor Neon, and it marks its fifth Palme d’Or winner in a row, following the triumph of Parasite, Titane, Triangle of Sadness, and Anatomy of a Fall. It’s also the first American film since The Tree of Life in 2011 to walk away with this prize.
Anora writer/director Sean Baker described his win in Cannes as his “singular goal as a filmmaker for the past 30 years.” He used his powerful speech to raise awareness about the future of cinema, encouraging other filmmakers to make feature films intended for theatrical exhibition.

New trailer offers snippets of new versions of “Popular” and “Defying Gravity”, two of the most popular songs from the original Broadway hit. In addition to Erivo and Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Bowen Yang also appear in the trailer.
Wicked is scheduled to be released on November 27, while its sequel will hit the theaters exactly a year later.

]]>Mufasa: The Lion King will chronicle the origin story of Mufasa, one of the greatest kings of the Pride Lands. He was once an orphaned cup with nowhere to turn, before meeting a sympathetic lion Taka, and embarking on an expansive journey with an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny.
Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Kani, and Beyoncé will reprise their roles from the previous film, and they’ll be joined by Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, and Blue Ivy Carter in her feature film debut.
Moonlight’s Barry Jenkins directed Mufasa, while Jeff Nathanson wrote the script. Lin-Manuel Miranda has been tapped to write the songs, and he said he’s humbled to be a part of the incredible musical legacy of this beloved franchise.
“The Lion King’ has an incredible musical legacy with music from some of the greatest songwriters around… It’s been a joy working alongside Barry Jenkins to bring Mufasa’s story to life, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience this film in theaters,” said Miranda in a statement.
Mufasa: The Lion King is eying the Christmas release date, and it will arrive in theatres on December 20.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be back as Deadpool and Wolverine, reuniting for the first time since X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Deadpool stars Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Brianna Hildebrand are also coming back, along with Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, and Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox.
Deadpool & Wolverine is the first Deadpool film in the MCU, and it will hit the theaters on July 26, as the latest film in Phase Five.

]]>After losing the Oscar for best original screenplay at the Oscars, The Holdovers was finally honored in the same category at the WGA Awards. It was nominated alongside Air, Barbie, May December, and Past Lives, and defeated them all to take the trophy home.
Cord Jefferson’s American Fiction, the winner of the Oscar for best adapted screenplay, won big in the same category at the WGA Awards. It competed against Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, Killers of the Flower Moon, Nyad, and Oppenheimer this time around.
When it comes to the TV categories, the main awards went to three shows that dominated the rest of the award season. Succession, The Bear, and Beef collected trophies for the best drama series, best comedy series, and best limited series, respectively, while The Last of Us was named the best new series.
After being hit by a major delay caused by last year’s writers’ strike, the WGA Awards returned to Los Angeles on April 14.

]]>The new Wicked trailer asks the question “Are people born wicked, or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?” – and it’s up to young witches Elphaba and Glinda to give us the answer.
Elphaba is a social pariah when she arrives at Shiz University, where her unusual green skin sets her apart from her peers. She forges an unlikely friendship with privileged and popular Glinda, but their relationship reaches a crossroads when they meet the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, setting in motion a chain of events that will have unexpected and shocking consequences for their future.
New trailer offers snippets of new versions of “Popular” and “Defying Gravity”, two of the most popular songs from the original Broadway hit. In addition to Erivo and Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Bowen Yang also appear in the trailer.
Wicked is scheduled to be released on November 27, while its sequel will hit the theaters exactly a year later.

]]>Mufasa: The Lion King will chronicle the origin story of Mufasa, one of the greatest kings of the Pride Lands. He was once an orphaned cup with nowhere to turn, before meeting a sympathetic lion Taka, and embarking on an expansive journey with an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny.
Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Kani, and Beyoncé will reprise their roles from the previous film, and they’ll be joined by Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, and Blue Ivy Carter in her feature film debut.
Moonlight’s Barry Jenkins directed Mufasa, while Jeff Nathanson wrote the script. Lin-Manuel Miranda has been tapped to write the songs, and he said he’s humbled to be a part of the incredible musical legacy of this beloved franchise.
“The Lion King’ has an incredible musical legacy with music from some of the greatest songwriters around… It’s been a joy working alongside Barry Jenkins to bring Mufasa’s story to life, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience this film in theaters,” said Miranda in a statement.
Mufasa: The Lion King is eying the Christmas release date, and it will arrive in theatres on December 20.

]]>Deadpool & Wolverine will kick off with Wade Wilson trying to leave his vigilante days behind and lead a peaceful and normal life. His peace is interrupted by the Time Variance Authority, a mysterious organization that’s monitoring the Multiverse.
They turn to Wade Wilson when looking for help to protect the “Sacred Timeline” and save the MCU – and he can’t do it all alone this time around. He must turn on his charm and convince Wolverine to help him save the day.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be back as Deadpool and Wolverine, reuniting for the first time since X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Deadpool stars Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Brianna Hildebrand are also coming back, along with Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, and Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox.
Deadpool & Wolverine is the first Deadpool film in the MCU, and it will hit the theaters on July 26, as the latest film in Phase Five.

]]>After losing the Oscar for best original screenplay at the Oscars, The Holdovers was finally honored in the same category at the WGA Awards. It was nominated alongside Air, Barbie, May December, and Past Lives, and defeated them all to take the trophy home.
Cord Jefferson’s American Fiction, the winner of the Oscar for best adapted screenplay, won big in the same category at the WGA Awards. It competed against Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, Killers of the Flower Moon, Nyad, and Oppenheimer this time around.
When it comes to the TV categories, the main awards went to three shows that dominated the rest of the award season. Succession, The Bear, and Beef collected trophies for the best drama series, best comedy series, and best limited series, respectively, while The Last of Us was named the best new series.
After being hit by a major delay caused by last year’s writers’ strike, the WGA Awards returned to Los Angeles on April 14.
