The beloved Broadway musical Wicked is coming to our big screens this fall, and we finally know what to expect from this adaptation. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande lead the new trailer as two young witches who are destined to shape the future of the Land of Oz.
The new Wicked trailer asks the question “Are people born wicked, or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?” – and it’s up to young witches Elphaba and Glinda to give us the answer.
Elphaba is a social pariah when she arrives at Shiz University, where her unusual green skin sets her apart from her peers. She forges an unlikely friendship with privileged and popular Glinda, but their relationship reaches a crossroads when they meet the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, setting in motion a chain of events that will have unexpected and shocking consequences for their future.
New trailer offers snippets of new versions of “Popular” and “Defying Gravity”, two of the most popular songs from the original Broadway hit. In addition to Erivo and Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Bowen Yang also appear in the trailer.
Wicked is scheduled to be released on November 27, while its sequel will hit the theaters exactly a year later.
