The post Adam Driver Set to Host First “Saturday Night Live” Episode of 2020 appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>The popular sketch show will return from its winter break on January 25th, and Driver will be in charge of bringing it into a brand-new decade, alongside musical guest Halsey.
Driver is no stranger to performing on SNL, since he actually hosted it two times in the past and gave us one of the most memorable viral sketches in recent memory with the Star Wars spoof Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base.
This isn’t the only reason why Driver seems like the obvious choice to host the new episode of Saturday Night Live. His latest film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is out in the theaters, and he’s receiving serious award buzz for his performance in Marriage Story.
Driver is in the running for several major accolades, including a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and a Critics’ Choice Movie Award, and he may even win some of them before his SNL episode airs, because many experts see him as the front runner.

]]>The British rock band has a new album on the way and stopped by Rockefeller Plaza to show us what we can look forward to later this month when it hits shelves.
Last month, Chris Martin and his bandmates released two new songs from the double-sided CD: “Orphans” and “Arabesque.”
“Orphans” was played before a live audience for the first time during Coldplay’s appearance as musical guests on Saturday Night Live. In addition, they also introduced fans to the album’s titular track, “Everyday Life”.
Martin performed the ballad whilst seated at the piano, and shortly after the show, a lyric video was released.
Although Everyday Life — which consists of one side titled Sunrise and the other Sunset — is only being released to the public in November 22nd, the “Viva La Vida” rockers will be playing its songs during two concerts in Jordan just prior.
Coldplay: Everyday Life — Live in Jordan will take place in Amman on November 21st and 22nd and be broadcast on YouTube.
“These two broadcasts have been our dream since we first started work on this album,” the band said in a statement. “It’s a bit impossible and a bit scary, like all the best dreams. YouTube is the perfect home for it.”
Fans would be forgiven for thinking they’d entered paradise.

]]>Three strong funny women!
Emma Thompson made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live this weekend, but she didn’t do it alone.
The Sense and Sensibility actress was joined on stage by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
The episode took place on the eve of Mother’s Day in the US, and so the trio, who are mothers themselves, decided to pay tribute to the glorious and exhausting practice that is motherhood.
Mothers don’t always mean what they say (or say what they mean), so Emma, Amy, and Tina graciously helped us out by doing a little mom-translation.
“When a mom says ‘you look tired,’ what they really mean is ‘you look bad,’” they explained. “When she say, ‘Son, you know I love you just the way you are,’ she’s actually saying, ‘I’m bored of waiting for you to tell me you’re gay.’ When she says, ‘I love all my kids the same.’ What she means is, ‘Your sister is winning.’”
No matter what moms say, we still love them!

]]>Adam Sandler returned to the SNL stage for the first time in 24 years as he took on the role of host.
During his time at 30 Rock, Sandler worked alongside Beverley Hills Ninja actor Chris Farley.
Three years after being dismissed from the sketch show, at the same time as the Water Boy star, Farley sadly died as the result of an overdose.
Sandler has also been known for writing songs (his Chanukkah ones being particularly famous), and so he chose his SNL hosting debut to pay tribute to his late friend and co-star through his musical talents.
The moving and somber lyrics include: “Hey buddy, life’s moved on but you still bring us so much joy / Make my kids laugh with your YouTube clips or Tommy Boy / And when they ask me who’s the funniest guy I ever knew / I tell ’em hands down without a doubt it’s you.”
We hope the audience had tissues.

]]>He began as a writer before moving to the stage a year later as a member of the cast — a position he served in until 1995.
The young actor then went on to star in many comedies, write, produce, and become a household name in Hollywood.
Now, he’s going back to where it all began.
For the first time in 24 years, Adam Sandler will be returning to the set of SNL. But this time, as host.
“We are happy to welcome Adam back to SNL in what is sure to be a special night,” said executive producer Lorne Michaels.
It seems kind of crazy that in all this time, Sandler has never hosted the sketch show, where he portrayed the characters of Opera Man and Hank Gelfand, and performed “The Chanukkah Song.”
But all that is about to change on the 4th of May when the 52-year-old will make his hosting debut.
He will be joined by Shawn Mendes who will be making his second appearance as the musical guest.

]]>On March 30th 2019, the Killing Eve actress made her debut on Saturday Night Live by hosting for the first time, and on March 30th 2018 she finally became an American citizen.
Sandra was born in Ottawa, Canada and has lived and worked in the United States since 1997. Twenty-one years later she received her citizenship and chose to commemorate the anniversary during her SNL monologue.
“I love Americans. You are confident and direct. And now that I am an Asian-Canadian-American, I’m trying to learn a thing or two about tooting my own horn.”
And she has every reason too, considering that in the past year she has co-hosted the Golden Globes and won a Globe, an Emmy, and a plethora of other awards for her role in Killing Eve.
Luckily, SNL regular, Leslie Jones, was on hand to offer Sandra some advice: “You have to learn how to accept a compliment… It’s not about the brag; it’s about the swag. You just have to have confidence.”
Go get ‘em, Sandra!

She has been confirmed to host an episode of Saturday Night Live — becoming only the second Asian-American to do so following Awkwafina’s performance late last year.
Sandra will take the reins on the 30th of March alongside Australian band Tame Impala, who will be appearing on SNL as the musical guests.

One of them inquired whether The Office would have a much-desired reboot, allowing the 56-year-old to reprise his most famous role as Michael Scott.
Steve’s answer was a crushing blow to fans of the series as he said, “Actually, I don’t think so, it was a great experience and I love all these people but I just don’t think it’s the best idea. I think maybe we should just leave it alone.”
But before they even had time to wipe their collective tears, Steve’s former “colleagues” appeared on stage to set him straight.

“People would really love to see an Office reboot,” said Ellie Kemper, who played receptionist Erin Hannon “‘Cause I need that money. Let’s get that money, Steve!”
She was backed up by Ed Helms (AKA Andy Bernard) who said, “I just don’t think you understand just how much money we’re talking about. Like, you wouldn’t have to do all those sad movies anymore.”
Finally, Jenna Fischer — better known as Pam Beesley — told the SNL host: “Steve, do you remember the last words that Pam secretly whispered to Michael as she left for Denver? She said, ‘Steve, don’t be a dick, do the reboot.’”
You know what to do, Steve…
