]]>FX has picked up a new half-hour series written, directed and executive produced by Novak.
“Thrilled, excited, humbled — these are the words in every press release, and I can’t believe how much I actually mean them,” Novak said in a statement. “This is my dream show, and FX is the dream place to make it. When I brought it to FX, I wondered if it went too far, and they told me, you can go further. I can’t wait to get started.”
According to Deadline, the untitled series will use the “boldest issues of our times as a jumping off point to tell singular, character-driven stories about the world we live in today.”
The series has already started filming, and each episode will feature a different cast.
Novak is best known for The Office and The Mindy Project. His big screen credits include Inglorious Basterds.

]]>Multiple outlets confirm that the Grey’s Anatomy alum and Killing Eve star will appear in the series from Amanda Peet, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
According to the streamer, the six-episode half-hour series is “centered around the Chair of an English department at a major university,” played by Oh.
Also attached is The Morning Show’s Jay Duplass.
Peet co-wrote the script with Annie Julia Wyman. She will also serve as showrunner. Peet, Oh, David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Bernie Caulfield will serve as executive producers.
Peet is primarily known for her acting roles including Brockmire, The Romanoffs as well as roles in Saving Silverman, Something’s Gotta Give, and Jack & Jill.

Dern will play a bartender in the series from Nick Hornby. According to Variety, the show will be comprised of a series of one-act vignettes between said bartender and the customers she serves, all of whom are in various states of emotional disrepair.
Quibi has already announced a slew of projects with A-listers including Guillermo del Toro, Antoine Fuqua, Sam Raimi, Jason Blum, Steven Soderbergh, Catherine Hardwick, Anna Kendrick, Doug Liman and Laurence Fishburne.
Quibi, a short-form mobile video platform, launches April 6th.

According to Variety, the series will follow the off-the-field misadventures of three young soccer players played by Shaquille Ali-Yebuah, Jack McMullen and Jake Short. Tamla Kari, Vadhir Derbez, Phil Wang, Neil Fitzmaurice, and Yetunde Oduwole round out the cast.
Series scribes Iain Morris and Damon Beesley said: “We’re so lucky to be working with such an incredible bunch, some new faces and some we’ve worked with over the years, all making us laugh enormously.”

Gellar has teamed with Ringer creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder to star in and executive produce the show based on a novel by Abbi Waxman.
Other People’s Houses is described as a dramedy, “somewhere between Big Little Lies and Catastrophe.”
The show follows “nine people who live in Los Angeles’ Larchmont Village neighborhood. Through the lens of social media, the characters navigate the emotional ups and downs of being parents, partners, neighbors and friends,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Gellar’s character is a mom and social media influencer named Anne Porter, who finds herself deep in the middle of all the neighborhood drama.
Gellar’s last regular TV role was The Crazy Ones, which debuted in 2013.

The two have collaborated in the past on the acclaimed Juno. Their other credits include Tully, Young Adult, and Jennifer’s Body, all directed by Reitman and written by Cody.
The series follows Calvin Wash (Spade), a semi-famous grunge musician in the ’90s who was hooked on heroin. Now he’s clean, sober and working as a waiter in the Valley. When he meets troubled 20-something actress Bailey, both of their lives change in unexpected and electrifying ways.
Should the untitled project go to series, it will mark Spade’s first starring role in a TV series since Rules of Engagement.

]]>It looks like the 31-year-old actress might be making her return to the small screen. According to Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke, Lively will develop a new scripted show with the streaming service. The news was announced on Wednesday at the Vanity Fair Establishment Summit.
While Salke didn’t say much, she did reveal that she and the Gossip Girl alum met in New York and talked about making an original show with a fashion/shopping twist to it.
According to Deadline, Salke said, “I told business affairs I’m going to do this.”, Realizing that the announcement might come as news to Lively, she added, “She’s in Rome, asleep. She’ll wake up to it.”
Salke took over as head of Amazon Studios following Roy Prince’s exit due to harassment allegations. Working to ensure such things won’t happen again, she said, “There had been a coming together at the company since that time. I never met Roy Price. I can’t speak to him personally,” Salke said. “There had been a lot of negativity and trauma around the company.”

The drama helmed by Revenge and Swingtown creator Mike Kelley has been greenlit for 10 episodes.
According to the streaming giant, What/If will explore “the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source materials and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.”
Kelley will serve as showrunner and will pen the script. He will exec produce alongside Melissa Loy, Alex Gartner, Charles Roven, Robert Zemeckis, and Jack Rapke.
Zellweger will portray Anne. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first installment might focus on newlyweds, however, details about the plot and characters are being kept under wraps.

The series revolves around the life of Leigh, both personal and professional, in the context of 1940s Hollywood. It will tackle issues of love including her 20-year marriage to Laurence Olivier, as well as issues of mental health, career and female empowerment.
“The story of the legendary movie star will be a compelling exploration of the woman who was transcendently known for some of the most memorable screen performances of all time,” FremantleMedia EVP and Creative Director, Global Drama, Christian Vesper said. “We’re looking forward to working with Natalie Dormer and Mainstreet Pictures to develop the series ready for global audiences.”
