The post Billie Eilish Gives Us Nostalgia Overload With “What Was I Made For?” Music Video appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>Eilish gave us a major nostalgia overload with a retro yellow dress and a stylish blonde ponytail, but clear Barbie references weren’t the only intriguing aspect of this video. The singer also reflected on some of her past eras by hanging doll-sized replicas of her iconic past looks on a tiny rack, before rain and wind repeatedly knocked it down.
Eilish was going through a writing block before Greta Gerwig showed her a short snippet from Barbie because she wanted her to write a song for the soundtrack. She once again joined forces with her brother and frequent collaborator Finneas O’Connell and ended up pouring her own emotions into a song that was initially only meant to reflect Barbie’s journey.
Even before Eilish’s amazing contribution, Barbie: The Album was shaping up to be the soundtrack of the summer. It will hit the shelves on July 21 and feature music from such A-list stars as Dua Lipa, Ava Max, Charli XCX, Fifty Fifty, Ice Spice, Karol G, Lizzo, and Nicki Minaj.

]]>To bring the music video for this song to life, Rodrigo joined forces with her frequent collaborator Petra Collins. The duo worked together to hone a visual filled with vampire references that don’t embrace this theme in a literal way.
“Vampire” sees Rodrigo being hit by a light while performing at an awards show. She can’t deal with the audience’s shock scared and escapes into the night while covered in blood, where she’s eventually lifted into the night sky.
Rodrigo described the experience of writing this song as therapeutic and said that it helped her cope with the feelings of anger and regret that she always had a hard time expressing.
“I think it’s just a song about feeling used, and all of the anger and regret and heartbreak that comes with it. And I think that’s a common feeling, whether or not someone’s famous. That was something that was just really bubbling inside of me,” she told Billboard.
“Vampire” serves as the lead single from Rodrigo’s upcoming album Guts, set to be released on September 8.

]]>The hunting video for “Your Power” opens with a wide shot of the mountains in Simi Valley. As the camera zooms in, we notice Eilish sitting on the ground. Things get more sinister as the video progresses, and we notice a giant anaconda enter the frame, wrapping itself around the singer.
Eilish’s latest single explores the abuse of power, especially at the hands of men. She discussed the meaning behind it with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, and said this is sadly a very relatable experience for people. “I’m not gonna make it about my experiences because it’s really hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands and millions of people have experienced this every single day. It’s everywhere you look and I hate it and I wanted to say something,” explained Eilish.
“Your Power” will be featured on Eilish’s second studio album Happier Than Ever, to be released on July 30th, alongside the previously released singles “My Future” and “Therefore I Am”.

“Wonder” serves as the perfect interlude for Mendes’ next album, which sounds as moving as the single it was named after.
“It really feels like a piece of me has been written down on paper and recorded into song. I tried to be as real and as honest as I’ve ever been. It’s a world and a journey and a dream and an album I’ve been wanting to make for a really long time,” wrote Mendes on Instagram.
“Wonder” will be released on December 4th, and the singer is yet to share the rest of the track list with the world.

Like the rest of the colored-themed videos for his singles from Colores, “Verde” was directed by Colin Tilley, who previously discussed his approach to this truly unique project with Billboard.
“The goal was to create different content that would really stand out and that the reggaetón world. My goal was for every video that drops for it to up the previous one. If we’re not doing that, then we’re not doing our job and there’s no point of releasing every single video,” said Tilley.
