We can count on Billie Eilish to tug at our heartstrings with each new song she shares with the world, and “Your Power” is the case in point. This chilling ballad explores an important subject matter and it comes with a symbolic music video, directed by Eilish herself.
The hunting video for “Your Power” opens with a wide shot of the mountains in Simi Valley. As the camera zooms in, we notice Eilish sitting on the ground. Things get more sinister as the video progresses, and we notice a giant anaconda enter the frame, wrapping itself around the singer.
Eilish’s latest single explores the abuse of power, especially at the hands of men. She discussed the meaning behind it with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, and said this is sadly a very relatable experience for people. “I’m not gonna make it about my experiences because it’s really hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands and millions of people have experienced this every single day. It’s everywhere you look and I hate it and I wanted to say something,” explained Eilish.
“Your Power” will be featured on Eilish’s second studio album Happier Than Ever, to be released on July 30th, alongside the previously released singles “My Future” and “Therefore I Am”.
