Following Grey’s Anatomy decision to suspend production, its last produced episode will serve as the season 16 finale.

The medical drama starring Ellen Pompeo had wrapped production on episode 21 of its 25-episode 16th season when it was decided to indefinitely halt production.

Executive producer and showrunner Krista Vernoff provided some clarity on Twitter, confirming that the stand-in season 16 closer will be a “satisfying” one. “We will resume our storytelling in Season 17,” she wrote.

She continued: “We are disappointed that we don’t get to complete our storytelling this season. The good news? 1621 plays like a satisfying finale! It’s not where we planned to end, but it’s beautiful & the questions that linger we will answer next year.”

According to ABC’s official logline of the now season finale: “Link tries to convince Amelia to take it easy during the final stage of her pregnancy; Hayes asks Meredith a surprising question; Owen makes a shocking discovery.”

Goodbye Dr. Alex Karev.

Deadline exclusively reported Friday that Grey’s Anatomy veteran Justin Chambers is officially exiting the medical drama.

Chambers starred on the hit ABC series since it debuted in 2005.

“There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years,” Chambers said in a statement. “For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices. And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time.

“As I move on from Grey’s Anatomy, I want to thank the ABC family, Shonda Rimes, original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens, and the rest of the amazing cast and crew, both past and present, and, of course, the fans for an extraordinary ride.”

Pompeo, aka Dr. Meredith Grey, is officially the last original intern still on the show.

Chamber’s last episode has already aired on November 14th.

Grey’s Anatomy isn’t flatlining just yet.

The staff at Grey-Sloan Memorial are not going anywhere as the series has been renewed for not one, but two more seasons.

And that includes Dr. Meredith Grey herself, Ellen Pompeo.

The actress had previously been unsure about her future on the show.

“I’m contracted through Season 16,” she stated last January. “And beyond that… I don’t really know. I take it day-by-day.”

That day has now come along with the Grey’s renewal, which will see both the medical drama and Pompeo sticking around until 2021 with seasons 16 and 17.

The renewal is also good news for Chris Carmack, Jake Borelli, and Greg Germann, who will officially become series regulars in Season 16.

Krista Vernoff will retain her role as showrunner while also pulling double duty as the showrunner of the Grey’s spin-off, Station 19, which has also been picked up for a third season.

We’re definitely keen for another dose.

How I met your… Meredith?

With the 15th season already well underway, fans of Grey’s Anatomy can expect to see a new love interest for the titular character, Meredith Grey.

For the last few seasons, the doctor played by Ellen Pompeo has navigated single motherhood — albeit with a few suitors here and there.

The next candidate is no stranger to TV fans as he too searched for love for 9 seasons.

Josh Radnor (aka Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother) will play Meredith’s blind date in the next episode of Grey’s, but there is no word on just how long his character will stick around.

Let’s hope that if it does work out between the 2 of them, it will take less than 9 years for Josh’s character to relay the story to their children!

Does Meredith even own a yellow umbrella?

What is Grey’s Anatomy without Dr. Meredith Grey?

We may just have to find out.

The medical drama is about to premier its 15th season on air and though we may have lost many memorable cast members throughout the series (some more painful than others), Ellen Pompeo’s voice as Meredith has always been a constant.

But the 48-year-old has now revealed that that may not always be the case…

“I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any formal announcement about what my future is on the show,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “But I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell. It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change.”

Whether that means that something terrible is going to happen to Mer during the new season, we don’t know, but Ellen has signed on until the end of season 16.

And will they have to change the name of the show if she does decide to leave?

Sandra and Ellen Pompeo have had a long friendship, dating back to 2005 when they both starred on Grey’s Anatomy.

And despite Dr. Cristina Yang having discharged herself from the series, the two seem to have remained close.

So when Sandra became the first Asian woman to be nominated in the category for her work on Killing Eve, Ellen sent not one, but two congratulatory tweets!

On Grey’s, Sandra and Ellen played best friends, often referring to each other as one another’s “person”.

Miss Oh will find out whether she’s won when the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards take place on the 15th of September, and we’re sure that the whole of Grey Sloan Memorial will be cheering her on!

Paging Dr. Cristina Yang…

It’s been 4 years since Sandra Oh gave her dose of sharp wit to patients on Grey’s Anatomy. Meredith’s best friend and Seattle Grace’s top cardiologist left at the end of the show’s 10th season, leaving a massive hole in fans’ hearts (no pun intended).

Ever since McFans have been hoping that Dr. Yang will show up along the hospital corridors to whip everyone back into shape with her “dark and twisty” directness.

But it seems as though that hold-up in the waiting room is going to be extended because Sandra has said that she doesn’t see herself donning her scrubs again anytime soon.

“The idea of stepping back into the Cristina shoes, it doesn’t feel right to me right now,” said the actress who is now starting on BBC drama, Killing Eve.

“It’s so funny. Every year, it’s like I hear that I’m coming back to the show. Like for real. But what I realize is, in a way that I’m really pleased and grateful for, is that the show is continuing on with its life and that the show and the people who are still attached to the show are still attached to Cristina. It means a lot to me.”

Ah, Sandra. You’ll always be our “person”.

The doctors have been discharged.

Grey’s Anatomy fans might need a dose of anti-depressants after learning that 2 long-time cast members will be leaving the series.

Now in its 14th season, Jessica Capshaw (Dr. Arizona Robbins) and Sarah Drew (Dr. April Kepner) have been part of the show since the 5th and 6th season, respectively.

The decision was taken for creative reasons, with executive producer, Krista Vernoff, stating, “As writers, our job is to follow the stories where they want to go and sometimes that means saying goodbye to characters we love. It has been a joy and a privilege to work with these phenomenally talented actresses.”

Grey’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, confirmed the sad news on Twitter.

Sarah has tried to offer fans some consolation by saying on Twitter, “I haven’t really had the time to process this information. I’ve been with it for less than 48 hours, so I’m not ready to say my thank you’s and give an all-encompassing statement about my 9 years here. That will come later. For now, I’d like to say: I love you, and I love April, and her story isn’t over yet.”

Jessica took to her own Twitter page to reiterate her character’s importance to the LGBTQ community:

Doctors Robbins and Kepner will be checking out at the end of the current season. Someone prescribe the tissues, please.

The upcoming spinoff of ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, revolving around the lives of Seattle firefighters, was simply referred to as “untitled Grey’s Anatomy spinoff” for a long time. Now, however, you can call it Station 19, since that will be show’s official title. This was revealed by show’s executive producer Paris Barclay, who shared the title with her Twitter followers.

Although everyone was eagerly anticipating the title, show’s star Jason George wasn’t nervous about it and said he was fine with the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff as title. Well, George, we hope you didn’t get too attached.

“Right now everybody just refers to us as the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, which is perfect because it helps remind everybody that we live in the same universe as Grey’s Anatomy,” George said while talking with E! News. “And I’m a fan of the show, as well as having been on it, so I’m happy about that.”

The spinoff was announced in May 2017 with Stacy McKee, long-term writer of Grey’s Anatomy, serving as a showrunner and executive produce. ABC didn’t reveal much about the show except it will follow “a group of heroic firefighters of the Seattle Fire Department at Station 19 from the captain down the ranks to the newest recruit in their personal and professional lives.” The first season will have 10 episodes.

Jaina Lee Ortiz (Rosewood) was cast as the female lead Andy Herrera while Jason George will reprise his role of Ben Warren from the original. Barrett Doss, Okieriete Onaodowan, Jay Hayden, Alberto Frezza, Danielle Savre, and Grey Damon join as part of the cast as well.

Station 19 is set to premiere on March 22, 2018, with a two-hour long first episode.

We can’t get enough of Grey’s Anatomy and luckily ABC realized this and launched another spinoff of the popular TV show. Titled Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team, the series focuses on the new interns of Grey Sloan Memorial and its six episodes were just made available to stream on the ABC app and abc.com.

The main cast of the series includes Sophia Taylor Ali (Dahlia Qadri), Jake Borelli (Levi Schmitt), Alex Blue Davis (Casey Parker), Jaicy Elliot (Taryn Helm), Rushi Kota (Vik Roy) and Jeanine Mason (Samantha “Sam” Bello). Don’t worry, you’ll be able to see some familiar faces and fan favorites as Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Kelly McCreary (Maggie Pierce), Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) are all set to make a special appearance.

Sarah Drew made her directorial debut on the show while Barbara Kaye Friend wrote all six episodes.

If just six episodes will not be enough for you, there is more coming soon. We will soon get the Untitled Grey’s Anatomy Spinoff, which will focus on the firefighters in Seattle starring Jason George (Dr. Ben Warren), who will leave the original show and join the spinoff alongside a new cast which includes Grey Damon, Jay Hayden, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre and Barrett Doss.

“It’ll be similar and different. It was a priority for me in thinking about this as a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff that it works hand-in-hand with Grey’s and was similar in both tone and intensity and humor and heart,” said executive producer and showrunner Stacy McKee about this spinoff.

These are all great news for the fans of the show, especially since the first spinoff Private Practice ended with its six season.

While Grey’s Anatomy is in its 14th season, with more than 300 episodes aired already, the show is still one of the highest-rated drama shows on television.
