Ric Ocasek and Paulina Porizkova have split up after being married for 28 years. Porizkova revealed the news via her Instagram account, confirming that she and The Cars frontman separated last year.
“Ric and I have been peacefully separated for the past year,” said the 53-year-old model and actress. “The photos of our happy family are, in fact, happy family photos; we are just no longer a couple.”
“The love we have for one another is so wide and deep it’s practically tangible, and that sort of love can never disappear,” she added. “Expect to keep seeing happy family photos.”
Ric Ocasek and Paulina Porizkova meet in 1984 during the filming of the music video for The Cars’ hit song “Drive,” while Ocasek was still married to his second wife, Suzanne Otcasek. Ric and Paulina married in August 1989 and have two sons together, Jonathan and Oliver. You can check out the music video for “Drive” below.
The couple was last seen together in April, during the induction of The Cars into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, when they attended the ceremony alongside their sons. During the ceremony The Cars reunited for their first performance since 2011.
