“Fantastic Beasts:” The Crimes of Grindewald Trailer & News

Dan Fogler and Eddie Redmayne in "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald"

The first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has arrived. The movie will pick up where the 2016 movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them left off.

Johnny Depp is returning as Grindelwald, who was mentioned in passing in the Harry Potter franchise as the ‘big bad’ that came before Harry’s arch nemesis, Voldemort. Eddie Redmayne will also be returning as Newt Scamander, a quirky and unconventional wizard with a real love for magical creatures. Jude Law will also be debuting as a young Dumbledore. David Yates, who directed several movies in the Harry Potter franchise as well as the previous Fantastic Beats feature, has returned as director for the upcoming feature.

The new trailer suggests that the movie will be a lot more action-packed than the last. It also shows a return to Hogwarts, which did not appear in the previous film.

The response to the trailer has mostly been extremely positive, with fans excited to learn more about Dumbledore’s earlier adventures. Some fans, however, have criticised the movie for containing a potential plot hole. The trailer contains people apparating in Hogwarts, but according to “Hogwarts, A History”, wizards cannot apparate or disapparate on the ground.

Perhaps this will be explained in the movie? We will have to wait to find out.
