The post Apple TV+ Expanding “For All Mankind” Universe With Season 5 & New Spin-Off appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>For All Mankind is set in an alternate timeline, where the Soviet Union became the first nation to pull off a Moon landing instead of the United States. This changed the course of the space race and forced NASA to do everything in its power to catch up.
For All Mankind centers on the American program, but the new spin-off Star City will switch up the perspective and take us behind the Iron Curtain. It will show the lives of cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers in the Soviet space program.
Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said that there’s so much left to explore in the For All Mankind universe, and this spin-off will allow them to do just that.
“For All Mankind continues to build out a fascinating world and capture global audiences through high-quality storytelling that has been so skillfully developed by Ron, Matt and Ben. [We] can’t wait to dive into this next chapter of the engrossing For All Mankind universe,” said Cherniss in a statement.

]]>After rumors about HBO scrapping the show’s third season emerged online, the network released a statement assuring fans there was no truth to them. “HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” reads the official statement, but everything’s not exactly going according to plan.
Despite HBO’s reassurance, there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Season 3 and the start of production has been pushed to a later date. Creator Sam Levinson is still in the process of finalizing the script, while HBO has given the show’s cast freedom to explore other projects in the meantime.
This is a sound decision on HBO’s side since its cast includes some of Hollywood’s most promising young stars. Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer all did great things outside of this series, while Colman Domingo is fresh off receiving his first Oscar nod.
Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, Nika King, and Storm Reid were also a part of the Euphoria ensemble in the first two seasons, alongside Barbie Ferreira and the late Angus Cloud. HBO is still targeting the 2025 release date despite the most recent delay.

]]>After exploring the Black roots of the house and disco music on Renaissance, Beyoncé is ready to embrace the same approach on its follow-up album. She’ll tackle country this time around, after becoming aware that “the Black, brown and Native cowboy stories are missing in American history”, per an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
Beyoncé announced the title of her next album by sharing an image of a saddle with metallic embellishments, covered with a red, white, and blue sash with the words “Cowboy Carter” written in the middle. This photo isn’t the official album cover, but it symbolizes the transition from Beyoncé’s Renaissance era since its cover showed her riding a horse with a blingy saddle.
Act II: Cowboy Carter is coming out on March 29, and Beyoncé already teased its release with two singles: “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages”. The first song created a lot of buzz for this album after hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts, making history as the first song by a Black female artist to top the latter chart.

Ryan Gosling will join forces with Mark Ronson to bring another Barbie song to the Oscars stage – the viral hit “I’m Just Ken”.
The remaining three best original song nominees will also be performed at the Oscars. Becky G will grace the stage with her take on Diane Warren’s “The Fire Inside” from Flamin’ Hot, Jon Batiste will perform “It Never Went Away” from American Symphony, while Scott George and the Osage Singers will put a new twist on “Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People)” from Killers of the Flower Moon.
This announcement comes shortly after the Academy unveiled the first round of this year’s presenters, which includes many previous Oscar winners, including last year’s recipients Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Brendan Fraser.
The 2024 Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 10, with Jimmy Kimmel coming back to host the ceremony for the fourth time.

Nolan finally managed to win his first BAFTA for the best director, while the film’s stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. walked away with acting prizes. Oppenheimer was also honored in several technical categories, including best cinematography, editing, and original score.

She decided to change her ways after attending a course at Harvard over the summer, but her attempts to be good at her job are only making things worse for everyone at Abbott.
In the meantime, Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson) is trying to prove to everyone she can be edgy while doing her best to get over her crush on Gregory (Tyler James Williams). The rest of Abbott’s teachers and crew (Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, William Stanford Davis, and Sheryl Lee Ralph) are doing their best to deal with Ava’s erratic behavior.

]]>1989 (Taylor’s Version) returned to No. 1 for the fourth non-consecutive week with 136,000 equivalent album units earned. It’s the re-recording of Swift’s seminal album 1989, and she promoted its release with a new single “Is It Over Now?”, which soared to No. 1 after fans gave it a major push.
1989 (Taylor’s Version) dethroned Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 to spend the last week of the year at No. 1. It’s not Swift’s only former No. 1 to make it to the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart this week, since it was joined by Midnights at No. 3 and Lover at No. 7.
This marks the 67th week Swift spent atop the Billboard 200 across all 13 of her chart-topping releases, and this number is quite historic. She’s just one week away from becoming a soloist with most weeks at No. 1, after equaling Elvis Presley. The all-time record will be much harder to achieve, and it’s held by The Beatles with 132 weeks atop the US Billboard 200 chart.

]]>With 402,000 album-equivalent units earned during its first week on the chart, For All the Dogs was a clear leader on the Billboard 200 chart this week. It’s Drake’s 13th album to hit No. 1 in the US, the third-most chart-leaders in the U.S. behind Jay-Z with 14 and The Beatless with 19.
For All the Dogs also made quite a splash on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with all of its 23 tracks making the cut. To make the whole thing even more impressive, seven of them made it to the top ten, including “First Person Shooter” ft. J. Cole, Drake’s 13th chart-topper in the US.
Drake is now tied with Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 songs among solo male artists, but he’s yet to surpass Rihanna (14), Mariah Carey (19), and The Beatles (20). He also became the first artist in history with over 300 Billboard Hot 100 entries with a total of 320.

]]>Based on Percival Everett’s novel Erasure, this acclaimed drama follows respected author and English literature professor Thelonious “Monk” Ellison. He’s so infuriated by the stereotypical depiction of the Black community in modern literature that he decides to write a satirical book that embraces all the overused clichés – only to watch it become a bestseller.
Jeffrey Wright received acclaim in Toronto for his lead role in American Fiction, but this film also stars Tracee Ellis Ross, Erika Alexander, Leslie Uggams, Sterling K. Brown, Myra Lucretia Taylor, John Ortiz, Issa Rae, and Adam Brody.
People’s Choice Award is voted by the moviegoers attending the film screenings at TIFF, and it’s widely regarded as an important indicator of the film’s Oscar chances. Recipients of this award often either received a nod or won the best picture Oscar, including Nomadland, Green Book, and 12 Years a Slave.
As for the rest of the winners at this year’s TIFF, Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers was chosen as the runner-up for the People’s Choice Award, followed by Hayao Miyazaki’s opening film The Boy and the Heron.
