The anticipation for the long-awaited third season of Euphoria continues, with no end on the horizon. HBO has addressed recent speculations about the show’s potential cancelation, and announced they’re delaying it to give Sam Levinson more time to work on the scripts.

After rumors about HBO scrapping the show’s third season emerged online, the network released a statement assuring fans there was no truth to them. “HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” reads the official statement, but everything’s not exactly going according to plan.

Despite HBO’s reassurance, there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Season 3 and the start of production has been pushed to a later date. Creator Sam Levinson is still in the process of finalizing the script, while HBO has given the show’s cast freedom to explore other projects in the meantime.

This is a sound decision on HBO’s side since its cast includes some of Hollywood’s most promising young stars. Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer all did great things outside of this series, while Colman Domingo is fresh off receiving his first Oscar nod.

Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, Nika King, and Storm Reid were also a part of the Euphoria ensemble in the first two seasons, alongside Barbie Ferreira and the late Angus Cloud. HBO is still targeting the 2025 release date despite the most recent delay.
