“American Horror Story” is Losing a Key Cast Member

Sarah Paulson in "American Horror Story"

The upcoming season of American Horror Story is already seeming like a nightmare for some fans.

The star of all eight previous seasons, Sarah Paulson, is reportedly not going to play a major part in number nine, according to Variety.

The critically-acclaimed anthology series is returning in September with American Horror Story: 1984. Plot details have remained under wraps, but creator Ryan Murphy released a clip in April, which leads us to believe that the 9th season is going to have a slasher-film feel.

AHS SEASON 9 is called…

Paulson is currently busy with at least two other projects, including one with Murphy.

The American Crime Story actress is taking on the lead role in Murphy’s new Netflix show, Ratched, which tells the story of Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Paulson is also filming Mrs. America about the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, for FX.

The scheduling conflicts mean that if she does make an appearance in AHS, Paulson’s role will likely be small, much like her part in the show’s first season.

The 44-year-old is not the only one sitting out season 9. Series regular Evan Peters has confirmed that he will not be taking part.

American Horror Story: 1984 hits screens on September 18th.
