Disney is constantly developing new live-action adaptations, and Peter Pan & Wendy is the next one on the way. This movie recently found its Tinker Bell in Black-ish star Yara Shahidi.
The upcoming version of Peter Pan will be directed by the acclaimed filmmaker David Lowery, whose filmography includes A Ghost Story and Pete’s Dragon. Relative newcomers Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson will play titular roles, with Jude Law portraying the villainous Captain Hook.
Shahidi celebrated her casting by sharing a photo in a green faux leather top and captioned it by tagging the word #Tinkerbell. She also shared the fan art of the beloved fairy with her face and wrote “Thank you for all of the love. It, truly, means so much to me. I’m excited for this next adventure!”
Shahidi got her big break with the role of Zoey Johnson in the hit sitcom Black-ish, and later took the lead role in its spin-off Grown-ish. She also starred in the coming-of-age movie The Sun Is Also a Star and voiced the main character in the Netflix animated movie Fearless.
