There May Be an “Easy A” Spin-Off, and We’re Already Singing “Pocketful of Sunshine”

Emma Stone in "Easy A"

Emma Stone’s shower scene from Easy A still makes us smile.

Back in 2010, the now-Oscar winning actress was still fairly unknown, with the comedy regarded by some as her break-out role.

Based on The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Stone played a high school student who lied about losing her virginity, leading to her being regarded as the school slut.

Nine years later, we could be heading back to Ojai North High School as an Easy A spin-off is believed to be in the works.

Screen Gems has repeatedly appointed Bert Royal, who penned the first script, to write and direct the upcoming movie, which is still in the early stages of development.

Will Gluck of Friends with Benefits directed the first film, which starred Stone, Penn Badgley, Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson, Amanda Bynes, and Lisa Kudrow.

While the spin-off will be set at the same high school and explore many of the same themes as the original, it is rumored that the follow-up will focus on a new group of students and teachers and Stone will not be returning.

Let’s hope that we haven’t seen the last of Olive Penderghast…
