The British Academy Film Awards returned to London on Sunday night, adding another fun chapter to this year’s award season. It was a big night for Dune, which walked away with a total of five trophies, while The Power of the Dog won the BAFTA for best film.

Jane Campion’s western drama was competing against Belfast, Dune, Don’t Look Up, and Licorice Pizza for the night’s biggest award, and it managed to come out victorious. Campion also made history as the third woman to win the award for the best director.

When it comes to Dune, Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic came into the night with 11 nominations and managed to win five crafts awards, including best cinematography, production design, special visual effects, sound, and original score.

Acting categories brought several predictable wins our way, starting with Will Smith collecting the award for best actor with King Richard. The real shocker came in the best actress category, with the underdog Joanna Scanlan beating tough competition to win a trophy for After Love.

The 75th British Academy Film Awards returned to the Royal Albert Hall in London on March 13th, and Rebel Wilson served as the host for the first time.
