The Lost Daughter is one of the independent films that the last year will be remembered by, and it had its chance to shine on Sunday night. This Netflix drama topped the list of winners at the Independent Spirit Awards, taking home a total of three shiny trophies.
The Lost Daughter won the biggest award of the night—the best feature—beating A Chiara, C’mon C’mon, The Novice, and Zola along the way. Its director Maggie Gyllenhaal also had an amazing night, and she was crowned as the best director and best screenwriter for her work on this film.
The acting categories were pretty colorful, with Simon Rex (Red Rocket) and Taylour Paige (Zola) taking home awards for the best male and female lead. Troy Kotsur (CODA) and Ruth Negga (Passing) also received trophies for their supporting performances.
The Independent Spirit Awards also honored the best television projects of the past year for the second time in a row. Reservation Dogs was the biggest winner in this field with two major awards—the best new scripted series and the best ensemble cast.
The 2022 Independent Spirit Awards were held on March 6th at Santa Monica Pier, with Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman serving as hots.
