It turns out that the forthcoming Dark Phoenix film almost turned out a lot differently than it does…

Not that we’ve seen it yet.

Sophie Turner is embracing her Game of Thrones character’s fiery red hair by portraying the titular role of Dark Phoenix in the new superhero flick.

The sequel to X-Men: Apocalypse is the twelfth instalment in X-Men franchise and is set a decade later in 1992.

James McAvoy reprises his role as Professor X in the film, and has now confirmed that the ending was re-shot, with reshoots taking place in Montreal over the summer.

“The end [of Dark Phoenix] changed a hell of a lot,” McAvoy told YahooUK. “The finale had to change. There was a lot of overlap and parallels with another superhero movie that came out… a while ago.”

It is likely that the Glass star is talking about Avengers: Endgame or Captain Marvel.

All will be revealed — or not — when Dark Phoenix is released on June 7th.
