It’s getting closer to August 7th, which means that Swifties have reason to celebrate.

Especially since Taylor Swift has decided to grace us with a new song!

“The Archer” is not her next single, but it is the third sampling from her upcoming album, Lover, following “Me!” and “You Need to Calm Down.”

“I know that can be confusing with the songs that come out. I haven’t made a video for it or anything. It’s just a glimpse into another side of the album I wanted to show you,” Tay-Tay said in an Instagram Live video.

More of a ballad than the former two singles, “The Archer” makes many movie references while speaking about the masks we wear in relationships.

“I’ve been the archer / I’ve been the prey / Screaming, who could ever leave me, darling / But who could stay? / ‘Cause they see right through me.”

During the Instagram video, Taylor also revealed that the deluxe version of Lover, which is out on August 7th, will include 120 pages from her personal diaries.
