The studio has shifted a whole bunch of theatrical release dates — again due to COVID-19 crisis and the decision to halt productions. 

The latest release date update includes Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which was originally expected to debut June 25, 2021. The film starring Robert Pattinson will now launch in theaters on October 1, 2021. The Sopranos prequel, titled The Many Saints of Newark pushed from September 25, 2020, to March 12, 2021.

Other changes to the studio’s schedule include The Flash, which was moved forward a month to June 2, 2022, Shazam 2 which is now set to launch on November 4, 2022, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic will now hit theaters November 5, 2021, and King Richard pushed back a year to November 19, 2021. 

The reshuffle was announced by Warner Bros Monday.

Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves took to social media on Monday to officially announce that Farrell was cast as Oswald Cobblepot, better known as Penguin, in the forthcoming superhero movie.

Reeves captioned a gif image of Farrell with: “Wait — is that you, #Oz?” with Oz being a nickname for Oswald, the Penguin’s given name.

The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, in addition to Paul Dano as the Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Peter Sarsgaard in a still unconfirmed role. 

It was first rumored in November that Farrell could be set to star as the umbrella-wielding, suit-wearing antagonist after it was confirmed that Jonah Hill exited the project. 

The Batman debuts on June 25th, 2021.

The Lobster and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them actor is currently in negotiations with Warner Bros to play The Penguin in The Batman Movie, which will be directed by Matt Reeves.

Reeves told Hollywood Reporter, “What’s exciting about Batman is how it relates to now and also how personal it can be. It’s very much a point-of-view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional.”

If Farrell commits to the film he will join Rob Pattinson’s Caped Crusader, Paul Dano’s The Riddler, and Zoe Kravit’s Catwoman. Farrell has played a superhero villain before in 2003’s Daredevil which also starred Ben Affleck.

The Penguin was previously played by Danny Devito in Batman Returns, which came out in 1992.

The Batman is set to be released on June 25, 2021.

The Westworld actor has been confirmed as Batman’s confidante, Commissioner Gordon, in the upcoming reboot of the Caped Crusader’s story. 

Gary Oldman famously portrayed Gotham’s police chief in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight series which starred Christian Bale in the titular role. 

The news of Wright joining the cast of The Batman was confirmed by none other than director Matt Reeves. 

The filmmaker shared a GIF on Twitter of Wright saying, “Tweet something,” and that caption, “Tweet! #Gordon.”

Wright’s addition is the latest bit of news from the film which will have Robert Pattinson taking on the part of Bruce Wayne. Zoë Kravitz has been announced in the role of Catwoman — previously played by Anne Hathaway — and Paul Dano will bring The Riddler to life for the first time since 1995’s Batman Forever.

We now wait patiently to see who will be cast as Batman’s faithful butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

The Beach Bum actor had been in negotiations to play the criminal mastermind with a love for puzzles, but is now reportedly no longer in line to embody Edward Nigma who was previously played on screen by Jim Carrey. 

Writer and director, Matt Reeves, will now be searching for a new actor to torture Robert Pattinson’s Batman and his ally Commissioner Gordon who is set to be portrayed by Jeffrey Wright of Westworld.

The Big Little Lies actress has been cast as Catwoman in The Batman which is a reboot of the caped crusader’s adventures, helmed by Matt Reeves. 

The role is one that comes full circle for Kravitz as she was previously an audition for The Dark Knight Rises because they reportedly weren’t “going urban.”

The role in that film ultimately went to Anne Hathaway who has since congratulated Kravitz on succeeding her. 

“The biggest congrats to @zoeisabellakravitz on landing the role of a lifetime. Well, one life anyway… Enjoy the ride, Selena,” the Modern Love actress wrote on Instagram. 

Kravitz’s step-father, Jason Momoa — who plays Aquaman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — also shared his pride, saying, “So freaking stoked.”

Kravitz is no stranger to playing Catwoman aka Selina Kyle — she provided the voice for the character in The Lego Batman Movie.

She will now be pulling on that black Lycra suit for real opposite Robert Pattinson’s Batman when The Batman hits theatres on June 25^th, 2021.

With Robert Pattinson preparing to don the Batsuit in Matt Reeve’s Batman reboot, the caped crusader obviously needs someone to defend Gotham against.

And it seems as though the villain of choice, this time, might be The Riddler.

It has been several years since the Dark Knight has come up against The Riddler on screen, with much focus in recent films being placed on characters like The Joker. The last time we saw The Riddler was Jim Carrey’s portrayal in 1995’s Batman Forever opposite Val Kilmer as Batman.

Latest reports claim that Jonah Hill is the actor now being eyed to embody the role. They are in contrast to previous claims that he was being considered for another villain in the DC Universe, Penguin.

While the Manic actor is being contemplated for the villain role, Westworld star, Jeffrey Wright, has been tapped to play one of Batman’s strongest allies, Commissioner Jim Gordon. The Commissioner was most famously played by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

The Batman is scheduled for release on June 25th, 2021.

The 33-year-old may have become famous for starring as the sparkliest vampire alive in The Twilight Saga, but he will soon be stepping into the shoes of Gotham City’s Dark Knight.

Pattinson’s role as the new Batman was confirmed in May, but as he revealed to Variety, he was scared that rumors of his casting could cost him the part, which he had actively lobbied for with director Matt Reeves.

“When that thing leaked, I was f**ing furious. Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing… It was terrifying. I was like, ‘Oh f**k! Does that screw me because they are so intent on secrecy?’” The Lighthouse actor said.

When Pattinson got to finally audition in full costume (ie. the Batsuit), it signified a turning point.

“I put it on. I remember saying to Matt, ‘It does feel quite transformative!’ He was like, ‘I would hope it does! You’re literally in the Batsuit,’” he recalls. “You do feel very powerful immediately. And it’s pretty astonishing, something that is incredibly difficult to get into, so the ritual of getting into it is pretty humiliating. You’ve got five people trying to shove you into something. Once you’ve got it on, it’s like, ‘Yeah, I feel strong, I feel tough, even though I had to have someone squeezing my butt cheeks into the legs.’… You’re trying to think of the way to balance, how to bring something new to it and not want to scare people off, and work in the confines of the costume.”

The Batman is set for release on June 25th, 2021.

The former James Bond actor is reportedly being eyed for a role in the upcoming Batman film.

Ben Affleck has hung up his cape and is making way for new blood to direct and star as the Dark Knight. Thus, The Batman will be helmed by Matt Reeves, while Robert Pattinson — who will next be seen in Tenet by another man connected to Gotham, Christopher Nolan — will play Bruce Wayne.

Filmmaker Ryan Unicomb has now posted a picture of Brosnan on Instagram, alongside the caption, “Pierce has entered the chat party.” It was followed by the emojis of an old man wearing glasses and a bat.

Unicomb was the one who initially said Pattinson was up for the part of Batman.

The emojis indicate that Brosnan could be playing Alfred Pennyworth, Batman’s trusted butler. He would follow in the footsteps of Michael Caine, Jeremy Irons, and Michael Gough.

The Twilight star and Warner Bros. have officially inked a deal for the actor to play the superhero in The Batman. The forthcoming feature is reportedly an origin story with Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes) at the helm.  

Pattinson edged out Nicholas Hoult for the coveted role, and the big decision was made by the studio Friday. Sources confirm that negotiations are already underway.

Pattinson is set to take over the role from Ben Affleck, who starred as the Caped Crusader in two DC films. Entertainment Weekly reports that the studio intends to sign Pattinson for a three-picture deal. 

Pre-production on the DC Comics film is expected to start this summer, with the movie slated to arrive in theaters June 25th, 2021.
