SZA’s “Kill Bill” is one of the songs that 2023 will be remembered by, and it’s finally getting credit where credit is due. After eight weeks on no. 2, this viral hit finally climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the wake of the release of a new remix featuring Doja Cat.

During its most recent week on the chart, “Kill Bill” received 86.5 million radio airplay audience impressions, 28.3 million streams, and 5,000 downloads. It finally climbed to No. 1 thanks to these impressive numbers, which is quite an achievement considering it spent eight weeks at no. 2.

“Kill Bill” finally managed to surpass the previous chart-toppers Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” and Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, which both repeatedly stopped it from hitting No. 1. It was a great week for hip-hop remixes on the Billboard Hot 100 overall, with Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj’s “Princess Diana” debuting at No. 4.

“Kill Bill” also marks SZA’s very first single to hit No. 1, but Doja Cat wasn’t credited on the Billboard Hot 100 since the remix didn’t account for the majority of the song’s overall consumption. The duo previously collaborated on “Kiss Me More”, which peaked at No. 3 and won them a Grammy for the best pop duo/group performance.
