Shonda Rhimes is ready for her first project with Netflix.

The mega-producer will tackle the infamous story of Anna Delvey, after acquiring the rights to the New York Magazine article, “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler.

Delvey posed as a wealthy German heiress who conned her way into NYC’s social elite. She even managed to con people and financial institutions to fund her bogus lavish lifestyle. She is currently being held without bond in Rikers Island prison.

This is Rhimes’ first project for the streaming giant since Shondaland’s exit after 15 years from ABC, where she launched serious hits like Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder and Private Practice.

At the time the deal was announced, Rhimes said in a statement, “Shondaland’s move to Netflix is the result of a shared plan Ted Sarandos and I built based on my vision for myself as a storyteller and for the evolution of my company. Ted provides a clear, fearless space for creators at Netflix. He understood what I was looking for—the opportunity to build a vibrant new storytelling home for writers with the unique creative freedom and instantaneous global reach provided by Netflix’s singular sense of innovation.”

No doubt this joins the list of the must-watch series on Netflix.
