Sacha Baron Cohen is sending regards from Syria with love.

It has been confirmed that the Alice Through the Looking Glass actor will be starring in a new series for Netflix called The Spy.

The 6-part series will be written and directed by Gideon Raff, who created Israeli series Prisoners of War, on which the Emmy Award-winning series Homeland was based.

Baron Cohen will star as renowned Israeli espionage agent Eli Cohen (no relation…), whose work amidst Syrian high society prior to his discovery and arrest is believed to have been essential to Israel’s success in the 1967 Six Day War.

The 46-year-old actor, whose mother is Israeli, is expected to deliver a large portion of his performance in Hebrew, which he speaks fluently.

Baron Cohen has not acted regularly in a series since he introduced himself to audiences in the comedy parody Da Ali G Show, which ran between 2000 and 2004.

The Spy will be set during the 60s, with no release date revealed as yet.
