“On My Block” Renewed for Third Season

Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco, Sierra Capri in "On My Block"

After premiering season two just six weeks ago, Netflix has already announced that On My Block will have a third season.

From co-creators Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft, On My Block has become a huge success with teenagers all over America.

The coming-of age-dramedy is set in the inner-city of Los Angeles and chronicles the lives of Cesar (Diego Tinoco), Monse (Sierra Capri), Ruby (Jason Genao), and Jamal (Brett Gray).

By delving into the lives of inner-city teens and providing representation to a largely underrepresented population in Hollywood, the series adds a much-needed splash of diversity to the streaming giant’s repertoire and television in general.

Despite this cringey tweet from Netflix announcing the renewal, the show does a fantastic job of relating to its fans, who are overjoyed about seeing their favorite characters return for another season.

The platform has also hinted that there will be new characters coming by telling Deadline that “additional casting news will be announced at a later date.”

Viewers hope that On My Block will not be the latest victim in a series of popular shows to be canceled by Netflix after just three seasons, including Friends from College, Santa Clarita Diet, and One Day at a Time.
