Netflix Renews “Raising Dion” For Season 2

Not long after making the list of Netflix’s 10 most popular series in 2019, Raising Dion was renewed for a second season.

News of the superhero drama’s renewal was made via a moving video with Senegalese painter Bou Bou, painting a picture of the show’s leads Alisha Wainwright and Ja’Siah Young.

The series is about how mom Nicole (Wainwright) raises her son Dion (Young), after her husband Mark (Michael B. Jordan) passes away. The pressures of raising a son as a single mom are only exacerbated when Dion begins having superhero-like powers. Nicole now has to keep Dion’s abilities a secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter) and to protect him from evil forces.

Showrunner Carol Barbee is set to return for the second season, which will have eight one-hour episodes. Michael B. Jordan, who had a role in the first season, will return as executive producer with Kenny Goodman, Kim Roth, Dennis Liu, and Charles D. King’s MACRO.

Not only was Raising Dion ranked as one of Netflix’s 10 most popular 2019 series, but it was also Netflix’s most popular kids and family show.
