Sophia Loren is making her return to the big screen.

Multiple outlets report that the 84-year-old actress is set to step in front of the camera for the forthcoming The Life Ahead. The feature’s global rights were bought by Netflix, with plans to release the title later this year.

The Italian drama hails from director Edoardo Ponti, who will also co-write with Ugo Chiti.

In the contemporary adaptation of Romain Gary’s novel The Life Before Us, Loren will play a Holocaust survivor with a daycare business, who takes in a 12-year-old street kid who recently robbed her. The two loners become each other’s protectors, forming an unconventional family.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to be working with Netflix on such a special film,” the actress said in a statement, “In my career, I’ve worked with the biggest studios but I can safely say that none have had the breadth of reach and the cultural diversity of Netflix, and that’s what I love about them.”
