Meryl Streep to Join “Big Little Lies” in Season 2

According to the statement released by HBO, Meryl Streep will be joining the cast of Big Little Lies for the show’s second season.

She will portray Perry Wright’s mother, Mary Louise Wright, who takes care of her grandchildren after her son’s death. The character of Perry Wright was portrayed by Alexander Skarsgård.

The series, written and produced by David E. Kelley, has won 8 Emmy Awards and 4 Golden Globes. It’s considered one of the best TV shows that are currently airing.

HBO announced in December that Big Little Lies would return for a second season, with most of the main cast from Season 1 returning. Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon will again executive produce in addition to starring. Andrea Arnold will direct all seven episodes. Jean-Marc Vallée, who directed all of Season 1, will also executive produce along with Kelley, Kidman and Per Saari through Blossom Films, Witherspoon through Hello Sunshine, Bruna Papandrea, Nathan Ross, Gregg Fienberg and Arnold.
