Mariah Carey gave us one of the most timeless holiday songs in the history of modern pop with “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” and this song finally hit no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart – 25 years after it was first released!

A few weeks ago, Carey won three records in Guinness World Records with the hit song, but she couldn’t have predicted that’s just the beginning of its journey to the top of the charts. “All I Want for Christmas” returned to Billboard Hot 100 countless times after its original release on October 29th, 1994 but this was the first time it reached the top spot.

No one was more amazed by this great accomplishment than Carey herself, who said it’s “mind-boggling” to see this song finally reach the no. 1 spot after so many years.

“We definitely wanted to kick it into high gear this year with the song to celebrate the 25th anniversary, but I definitely didn’t expect it to hit No. 1 two weeks before Christmas! I just want to thank everybody. I want the world to have the best holiday ever,” the singer told Billboard.
