Ashton Kutcher just pulled off an insane surprise on his friend and neighbor Ellen DeGenerous.

The 40-year-old actor and his business partner Guy Oseary made an appearance on Wednesday’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

While Ellen’s 60th birthday was back in January, Kutcher proved that it is never too late for presents.

The That 70s Show alum made a surprise appearance on Wednesday. Kutcher teamed up with San Francisco-based app Ripple and presented the host with a belated birthday present: a $4 million donation to the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.

The fund, gifted to DeGeneres by her wife Portis de Rossi in February, works to save the gorillas in Rwanda.

“For your birthday, Ellen, I am bringing you and your hero, Dian [Fossey], together by building the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund,” she said. “Ellen, you will carry on Dian’s legacy by giving them a permanent home in Rwanda. Now, you will join Dian as a protector and champion of these amazing animals, the mountain gorillas. Happy birthday!”

Before announcing his donation, Kutcher shared his appreciation of his friend’s generosity.

“We told Ripple, ‘There’s this amazing human being and all they ever do is think about other people they can give to. Whether it’s in New Orleans, whether it’s in Montecito, whether it’s the people that come here, the people out there, you’re always thinking about everyone else and we wanted to show you that people are thinking about you.”

Check out the video below of DeGeneres emotional acceptance of Kutcher’s massive $4 million donation as she said, “That was the most amazing thing. Thank you. I love you both so much, you know that.”
