Cattrall has joined the cast of CBS All Access series Tell Me a Story.

Best known for her role as Samantha on the iconic series Sex and the City, the 61-year-old actress is set for a new lead role.

Penned by Kevin Williamson, the series is a subversive take of the world’s beloved fairy tales. Set in modern-day New York City, the psychological thriller reimagines the fairy tales as dark and twisted tales of love, loss, greed, revenge, and murder with the first season a melange of “The Three Little Pigs,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” and “Hansel and Gretel.”

Williamson is also set to serve as executive producer alongside Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor and Liz Friedlander.

Cattrall will play Colleen, a not so traditional grandmother. When her son moves back home, Colleen has to grow up and take on parental duties to protect her family from a sinister threat.

Tell Me a Story is Cattrall’s first US TV gig since Sex and the City. Her other TV credits include the HBO Canada series Sensitive Skin, the Swedish television series Modus and two mini-series, The Witness for the Prosecution,” and Any Human Heart.
