Disney’s live-action Peter Pan & Wendy may have found its villain in Jude Law.

Law is currently in talks to play Captain Hook in the live-action film directed by David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon) from the screenplay that Lowery co-wrote with Toby Halbrooks. The film’s based on the J.M. Barrie novel about Peter Pan, the boy who didn’t age, and the children he takes to Neverland.

To date, the 1953 animated film from Disney is the most successful adaptation of the novel, but other films, including Steven Spielberg’s Hook starring Robin Williams and Joe Wright’s Pan, have also adapted the book.

Law will join former Hools Dustin Hoffman, Jason Issacs, and Garret Hedlund if he signs onto the project.

So far, Ever Anderson as Wendy and Alexander Molony as Peter Pan have been announced as part of the cast. Disney had to halt production on the film in March due to the coronavirus.

Law has starred in many television and film roles and his most recent works are in HBO’s The New Pope and Paramount’s Rhythm Sections. He will be reprising his role as Dumbledore in the next Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film.

Disney’s live-action adaptations have been a huge hit this year with the release of Aladdin and The Lion King, which made over $1 billion at the global box office. There’s even a sequel in the works for Aladdin’s live-action film.
