Disney+ found its biggest breakout hit in The Mandalorian, so it makes sense the streamer will want to hold onto it as long as possible. The second season of the show is yet to premiere, but Jon Favreau is already working on its follow-up.

Variety was the first to report that pre-production has already begun on the third season of the beloved Star Wars-themed show. Favreau has been working on the script for some time, and the art department has been creating concepts for the past few weeks.

This news comes about a month after The Mandalorian cast and crew managed to wrap the production on Season 2. It’s expected to premiere in October on Disney+ and is currently in the process of post-production.

The Mandalorian was one of the new original shows available on Disney+ when this streaming service launched in November last year. It became a critical and commercial hit and attracted many new subscribers to this streaming platform thanks to the viral success of its breakout character, The Child, often referred to as Baby Yoda.
