According to Variety, Fox has decided to make some casting changes after having issues with the pilot, which did not make the cut to series.

While the network’s execs praised Thomas Lennon for his portrayal of the male lead in the pilot, they have recast two key roles.

JoAnna Garcia Swisher will replace Ashley Williams who was in the pilot, as the new female lead; child actor Jack Stanton will play Dan Jr., the role originally played by Dashiell McGaha-Schletter.

The casting change was also made possible as both Swisher and Stanton became suddenly available following the cancellation of their series, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World and The Mick, respectively. The two will go on to re-shoot scenes from the pilot this summer,

Dan the Weatherman centers on Dan after losing his s cushy job as a weatherman at the local TV station. This is how Dan finds it’s not enough to be a charming man in this world, reluctantly finding himself employed by at the local cable station.

Also starring are Natalie Ceballos, James Earl and Daniel Stern.

The series is still scheduled for a midseason launch.
