In case you don’t know who James van der Beek is, he’s the guy you’ve probably seen crying on a million Tumblr posts.

Well, that too. But let’s focus on the important stuff.
And, as it turns out, the infamous meme is pretty significant for James, too.
“I love it. It’s my favorite thing about the whole show,” jokes the 41-year-old. “It’s hilarious to me that you can work for six years on a show … and it gets boiled down to three seconds. It’s a perfect way-of-the-internet.”
Co-star, Joshua Jackson, who played Pacey, gave him some encouragement, saying, “It’s not how many times you cried. It’s how you cried.”
And thanks to the internet, people will be able to tell you just how you cried for eternity.
