Meet Arthur Fleck. Also known as The Joker.

It was announced last year that Warner Bros. would be making an origin film about Batman’s arch-nemesis. Set in the eighties, the star of The Sister Brothers, Joaquin Phoenix, will be taking on the role of the Clown Prince of Crime who has previously been portrayed by Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and Jared Leto.

Joker director, Todd Phillips, has now given us an idea of just how Joaquin’s version of the evil mastermind will look by sharing the first picture of the 43-year-old in character.

The film has been described as an “exploration of a man disregarded by society that is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.”

The origin flick, which will be released on the 4th of October 2019, is also expected to star Marc Maron, Zazie Beetz, and Robert De Niro.
