A new face is about to become a part of Disney’s world.

Having achieved fame as a singer with her twin sister, Halle Bailey is about to embark on her film debut by playing Ariel in the live-action version of The Little Mermaid!

“Dream come true”, the 19-year-old wrote alongside a picture of the animated character stylised with dark hair.

Bailey rose to fame when she and her twin recorded a cover of Beyoncé’s “Pretty Hurts.” The viral video resulted in the singer inviting Chloe X Halle to open for her on the European leg of her tour. The pair then went on to star in Grown-ish, for which they also wrote the theme song.

“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” said Rob Marshall who directing the remake.

Bailey is expected to sing the favorites from the original film, as well as new tracks written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken.

The teenager is expected to head under the sea when production on The Little Mermaid begins early next year.
