HBO never struggled to hype up their brand-new shows, and they’re doing it again with The Last Of Us. This video game adaptation is one of the most highly-anticipated new shows coming to HBO this winter and the network teased its release with a brand-new trailer.
The Last of Us is will take us to a post-apocalyptic future, where a hardened survivor Joel must smuggle a teenage girl Ellie from an oppressive quarantine zone, 20 years after modern civilization. They embark on a brutal, heartbreaking journey across the US, depending on each other for survival.
Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (Catherine Called Birdy) play lead roles in this project after previously both starring on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, and Storm Reid round out the supporting cast.
Neil Druckmann, one of the directors of Naughty Dog’s original game, created this show alongside Craig Mazin (Chernobyl). The first season will feature nine episodes, covering the events of the first game. Mazin said they’re open to working on more seasons if the first one is well-received.
The Last Of Us will premiere on HBO on January 15, 2023, with new episodes airing weekly.
