GoT’s Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington to Compete for Golden Globes Lead Actors Categories

HBO is about to change their award strategy and nominate both Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) for the Golden Globe Lead Actor in 2018.

In the past, allĀ GoT cast members have been submitted in the supporting actor races for various award shows, but HBO is about to change that. They are hoping to increase the number of nominations by submitting two actors for the lead races.

The show aired too late and wasn’t eligible for this year’s Emmys, but they were always more focused on the Globes anyway.Ā Harington received his first Emmy nomination for season 6, but Clarke has already received three Emmy nominations, ever since Daenerys began her freedom-tour of Essos (seasons 3, 4, and 6). However, all the major players have largely been competing in the supporting or guest categories in either awards show.

The 75th annual ceremony will be held on January 7, 2018, hosted by Seth Meyers.
