Those ghosts have only until next year to run rampant.

That’s because Sony has set July 2020 as the release for the anticipated Ghostbusters sequel.

The sequel comes 36 years after the original film starring Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis, and Sigourney Weaver.

The 1984 movie about a team of parapsychologists who start a ghost-catching business in New York City was directed by Ivan Reitman.

The 2020 version is set to be directed by his son, Jason Reitman.

The Up in the Air filmmaker has co-written the screenplay with Gil Kenan of Poltergeist (we’re sensing a theme…) and has begun the casting process for young actors, with production set to start in the summer.

The upcoming film will have no connection to the all-female Ghostbusters remake which came out in 2016 starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.

We won’t be afraid of no ghosts when Ghostbusters 2 hits screens on 10 July, 2020.
