The battle for Best Actor Oscar has just gotten hotter.

The race for the coveted prize is likely between Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody and Christian Bale for Vice.

Both won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama and Comedy, respectively, with Bale picking up the main male award at the Critics’ Choice Award.

Now Malek has evened the playing field by scooping up the Screen Actors Guild Award.

The SAG is based on actors voting for actors, meaning that the Freddie Mercury star has won acclaim from his peers.

The Wife star, Glenn Close, seems to have secured her Academy Award after winning the SAG for Best Actress, while Emily Blunt was a surprise win in the Best Supporting Actress category for A Quiet Place.

Black Panther proved that Wakanda is all about unity as the cast picked up Best Ensemble — the SAG’s equivalent of Best Picture.

In the television category, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was undoubtedly the favourite, claiming Best Comedy Series, Best Actress in a Comedy for Rachel Brosnahan, and Best Actor in a Comedy for Tony Shalhoub.

Their drama equivalents were awarded to This Is Us, Sandra Oh for Killing Eve, and Jason Bateman for Ozark.
