Everyone needs a friend like George Clooney in their corner.
The dapper film star is not only good at his craft, but is also a human rights activist with a particular interest in the Syrian civil war.
The Catch-22 star and his wife Amal are also good friends of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle.
And so, with the media scrutiny the Duchess has been under — particularly as she prepares to give birth — George felt it was time to stand up for his friend.
“It’s a little unfair at times when… I’ve seen it when the press can turn on you for sort of ridiculous reasons and for almost nothing, and it seemed to me to be a little unjust since she hadn’t done anything except just happen to live her life,” he said on Good Morning Britain.
“She’s a really kind and smart and intelligent young woman, and they’re a really wonderful, loving couple. Most of it you can just shrug off and not pay attention to, but sometimes it’s unkind.”
It’s not the first time that George has come to Meghan’s defense.
In February, he told Australia’s Who magazine, “They’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified. She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant, and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it’s history repeating itself. We’ve seen how that ends.”
Team Meghan has a good captain.
