Gal Gadot has been cast to play the iconic Egyptian queen Cleopatra in a forthcoming Patty Jenkins-directed feature.

Gadot and Jenkins have worked together before on the Jenkins directed Wonder Woman and the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984.

Gadot’s casting in Cleopatra was confirmed by the Israeli star who took to Twitter writing, “As you might have heard I teamed up with @PattyJenks and @LKalogridis to bring the story of Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, to the big screen in a way she’s never been seen before. To tell her story for the first time through women’s eyes, both behind and in front of the camera.”

According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures won the film following a bidding war between Universal, Warner Bros, Netflix, and Apple. Laeta Kalogridis is set to write the screenplay.
