E! Switches Up its Line-Up

It’s all new on E!

The entertainment channel has some big changes coming as it heads towards the end of the year.

2020 will see the network, which is owned by NBCUniversal, expanding its news slate — including moving its nightly E! News segment to the mornings.

The result of the reschedule will mean that Nightly Pop will now be broadcast four evenings a week instead of two, and we will also be getting several new shows.

These include an in-home celebrity interview series, tentatively titled In the Room; a weekly review series which is currently being called BingE! Club; and a variety of pop culture commentary formats.

“The E! News footprint is unparalleled, and our growth continues with this investment in more edgy, comedic, personality-driven linear programming,” said head of E!’s coverage expansion, Tammy Filler.

“We undoubtedly live in a 24/7 world, where entertainment news is just a click away but what our viewers crave is analysis, commentary and POV that goes deeper than a headline. We are leaning into what is uniquely E! and building on our success with a second home in New York and more hours of coverage.”

Off-air, the move to New York for the morning show means that 20-25 staff members who worked on the nightly broadcast in Los Angeles are now out of work.

Many of the changes on E! will begin to take effect in the fall.
