Demi Lovato knows all about the adage: “it’s not about who has known you the longest; it’s about who came and never left”.
The 25-year-old has been enduring a tough period, admitting that she fell off the wagon following 6 years of sobriety. The singer has been very open regarding her battles with substance abuse, and last week released a song entitled Sober during which she confessed to relapsing.
The song’s heart-wrenching lyrics include the lines: “Mama, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore / And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor / I wanna be a role model, but I’m only human.”
Now, the Sorry Not Sorry musician has left a message of gratitude to her fans who stuck by her. The performance, posted on Instagram, includes the caption: “To my fans, my family, and my supporters, the ones who never left me, you are my light. I am forever grateful.”
Here’s to your courage, Demi.
