Christopher Nolan wants you to go to the movies.

Anticipation for the Inception director’s upcoming movie, Tenet, is high, with less than a year to go until its release.

Like many of Nolan’s films, not much is known about the feature, whose cast includes John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, Clémence Poésy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Kenneth Branagh.

Nolan decided to surprise audience members in attendance at the preview screening for the Fast & the Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw on Thursday night by showing the trailer for Tenet.

The clip was not released online, meaning the only way to see it is at the cinema.

According to those who were present, it included Washington slowly approaching a broken window, as well as fight scenes, and him wearing a gas mask.

“The time has come for a new protagonist,” read the tagline, followed by “The time has come for a new kind of mission.”

Tenet, which is based on a screenplay written by Nolan, will be in theatres on July 17th, 2020.
