Alexa Ray Joel is kicking off the year 2018 with a new fiancé!
The 32-year-old daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley got engaged to longtime boyfriend, Ryan Gleason. She revealed the news on Instagram on Monday with a photo of herself kissing her man while showing off her emerald cut engagement ring.
“He said to me: ‘Before I met you, my world was in black and white. You colored it in between the lines,'” Alexa captioned the sweet snapshot. “It was the most beautiful thing anybody’s ever said to me. How could I possibly say no to that?!?!”
She also shared a photo of the couple on the beach after the proposal.
“So I was completely taken off-guard, dumbstruck, and shell-shocked- and FOR ONCE in my life, I had absolutely no words, and I couldn’t speak…” she wrote.”I just kept staring at this ridiculously exquisite ring- and he was just hysterically laughing at me!!!”
Ryan also posted a photo of the huge sparkler, which he captioned “Luckiest guy in the world!!!!”
Alexa just celebrated her 32nd birthday on Dec. 29 while on a beach vacation.
The newly-engaged couple has been dating for five years. Alexa is the only child of Joel and Brinkley, who divorced in 1994. Joel also has two young daughters, Della and Remy, with his fourth wife, Alexis Roderick, while Brinkley has a 19-year-old daughter, Sailor Lee, with ex-husband Peter Cook and a 22-year-old son, Jack Paris, from her previous marriage to Richard Taubman.
Back in July, Brinkley told ET about her daughter’s now-fiancé, saying “I totally approve. Nicest guy, real sweetheart.”
“He just gets her, and I see him sort of looking at her in that special way. It’s sweet.”
