The post “Joker: Folie à Deux” Trailer Captures Joker & Harley Quinn’s Bad Romance appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>The new Joker movie borrows its title from the French term “folie à deux”, meaning “folly of two”, and it’s truly a perfect fit. This term is often used to describe the shared psychosis that we see Arthur Fleck and Harley Quinn develop during their times as inmates at Arkham Asylum.
The new trailer confirms that Joker: Folie à Deux will go down the musical route, and it features several impressive dance numbers. One of them is choreographed to “What the World Needs Now (Is Love Sweet Love)”, but the entire film will feature at least 15 renditions of well-known songs, according to Variety.
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga will be joined by an impressive group of supporting players, including Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung, Harry Lawtey, and Zazie Beetz. Todd Phillips returned to direct the sequel, which will hit the silver screen on October 4.

]]>The post 2024 BAFTA TV Awards: “The Crown” Leads the Way With Eight Nods appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>The Crown owes most of its nominations to its amazing cast, with Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville, and Salim Daw all receiving nominations in their respective categories. It also received nods for several craft awards, including costume design, makeup and hair design, sound, and special, visual, and graphic effects.
Despite topping the list of nominees, the final season of The Crown failed to receive a nod for the best drama series. The Gold, Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and Top Boy made the cut instead.
The latest season of Black Mirror added seven more nominations for Netflix with the episode “Demon 79”. It’s been nominated for the best limited drama, while its star Anjana Vasan scored a nod for the best leading actress. Black Mirror secured the rest of its five nods in the craft field.
The 2024 British Academy Television Awards will return to the Royal Festival Hall in London on May 12, and the host is yet to be announced.

]]>The post “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is Coming Back for Season 2 & 3 on Netflix appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>Avatar: The Last Airbender takes place in a world divided into four nations, whose harmony was destroyed after the Fire Nation chose to rebel against the status quo. It’s now up to the twelve-year-old Aang to restore the balance between the nations and fulfill his destiny as the next Avatar, who has the power to control all four elements.
Gordon Cormier led The Last Airbender cast as Aang, and he was joined by Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, Ken Leung as Commander Zhao, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai.
The quick renewal of this live-action anime doesn’t come as a shocker, since it attracted 21.2 million viewers and 154.4 million hours watched during its debut week to top Netflix’s global TV chart. The streamer renewed it for two more seasons, but they’re also planning to conclude this story with Season 3, sticking to the formula that proved successful with the original anime series.

]]>Oppenheimer walked away with the biggest award of the night: the outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. Its stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. came out victorious in their respective fields, bringing the film’s total to three awards
It was also a big night for the acclaimed culinary dramedy The Bear, which collected three trophies. In addition to winning the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble, its stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri received individual honors for their roles.
Winners were harder to predict in the drama field, but the final season of Succession still managed to collect the trophy for the outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Its cast members, however, failed to win any individual awards, losing to Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown).

]]>Usher opened the show with “My Way”, but quickly switched to “Caught Up” and “U Don’t Have to Call” before bringing out the reinforcement. Alicia Keys was the first to join him, and their renditions of “If I Ain’t Got You” and “My Boo” set the stage for the rest of the show.
H.E.R. and will.i.am. were also by Usher’s side during one of the biggest moments of his career. Lil Jon and Ludacris joined him in the final moments, and helped him seal the deal with the final song “Yeah!”
Usher and his guests weren’t the only music stars at this year’s Super Bowl. Reba McEntire performed the national anthem, while Post Malone delivered a powerful rendition of “America the Beautiful”. Taylor Swift, Ice Spice, and Lana Del Rey were some of many celebrities in attendance.
Super Bowl LVIII took place on February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, and resulted in the Kansas City Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl win.

]]>Slow Horses draws inspiration from Mick Herron’s Slough House spy novels and centers on a team of dysfunctional MI5 agents trying to defend England from sinister forces. Here’s what the show’s upcoming fifth season has in store, according to Apple TV’s official logline:
“Everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected.”
The Oscar winner Gary Oldman leads the series in the role of the notorious Jackson Lamb—and he’s in pretty good company. The show’s cast also includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan, and Jonathan Pryce.
Slow Horses will return for its fourth season in late 2024, and it’s expected to feature a few new faces once it comes back, starting with Hugo Weaving, Joanna Scanlan, and Ruth Bradley.

It won awards for breakthrough series under 40 minutes and outstanding performance in a new series (Ali Wong), while A Small Light collected the award for the breakthrough series over 40 minutes.

It will be competing against Passages, Reality, Showing Up, and A Thousand and One, but Gotham voters clearly favor it since it’s been nominated in two more categories – breakthrough director (Celine Song) and outstanding lead performance (Greta Lee).
As for All Of Us Strangers, the acclaimed British movie is leading the way in the best international feature field, along with Anatomy of a Fall, Poor Things, The Zone of Interest, and Tótem. It’s also been nominated for best screenplay (Andrew Haigh), outstanding lead performance (Andres Scott), and outstanding supporting performance (Claire Foy).
The television field at this year’s Gotham Awards is pretty packed, as well. Beef is leading the way with three nods, followed by I’m A Virgo, Swarm, Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, Dead Ringers, The Last of Us, A Small Light, and The English with two nominations each.

]]>The post 2023 MTV VMAs: Taylor Swift Steals the Show With Nine Wins appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>Taylor Swift always felt right at home on the MTV Video Music Awards stage, and she hit it time and time again this year! The pop sensation was the biggest winner of the night at this year’s MTV VMAs with nine awards, including video of the year with “Anti-Hero”.
The race for the night’s most-coveted award also included Doja Cat’s “Attention”, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy”, and SZA’s “Kill Bill”, but none of them could come even close to “Anti-Hero”.
In addition to winning her record-extending fourth award for video of the year, Swift also won song of the year, best pop, best direction, best visual effects, best editing, and best cinematography with “Anti-Hero”. She came out victorious in three other categories – artist of the year, show of the summer, and album of the year with Midnights.
As for the rest of the winners’ list, Ice Spice was crowned as the best new artist, following in the footsteps of Dove Cameron and Olivia Rodrigo. Shakira also had a reason to celebrate after collecting the trophy for best collaboration with Karol G for “TQG”, in addition to being honored with the lifetime-achievement Video Vanguard Award.
The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards were held in Newark, New Jersey on September 12, with Nicki Minaj hosting the festivities for the second consecutive year.

]]>The post “Joker: Folie à Deux” Trailer Captures Joker & Harley Quinn’s Bad Romance appeared first on TheDailyDay.

]]>The list of contenders for best feature also included Passages, Reality, Showing Up, and A Thousand and One, but none of them could stand their ground to Past Lives. Celine Song’s drama collected this award but failed to repeat its success in any of the other categories.
Anatomy of a Fall was the only film to end the night with two wins, including best screenplay for Justine Triet and Arthur Harari. It also defeated the likes of All of Us Strangers and Poor Things to be named the best international feature at this year’s Gotham Awards.
This year’s ceremony also included three television categories and Netflix’s mini-series Beef dominated this field. It won awards for breakthrough series under 40 minutes and outstanding performance in a new series (Ali Wong), while A Small Light collected the award for the breakthrough series over 40 minutes.
The 2023 Gotham Awards were held at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on November 27.

]]>The post 2023 Gotham Awards: “All Of Us Strangers” & “Past Lives” Among Top Contenders appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>Past Lives is the strongest candidate for the ceremony’s main award: best feature.
