We know, you want an Aquaman sequel.

So do we.

Despite being DC’s highest-grossing film, there has been no confirmation of a sequel emerging from the water.

Instead, we appear to be getting a spin-off.

Much like Maleficent, the spin-off will be based on the villain from the original film.

In this case, The Trench will center on the deadly amphibious creatures seen attacking Jason Momoa’s character and his love Mera.

They are revealed to have been inhabitants from the kingdom of Atlantis who evolved into monsters when the city sank and they were cut off from other survivors.

Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald have been hired to pen the script with much of the other details remaining submerged, though the cast of Aquaman are not expected to feature.

Time will tell if it also makes over a $1 billion at the box office.
