One of the saddest deaths in Hollywood that we can remember is that of Anton Yelchin. The Star Trek actor was only 27 when he died in 2016 as a result of his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee rolling down his driveway and pinning him against a concrete mailbox.

2 years after the horrific event, Anton’s parents have finally settled a wrongful death lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler which they launched in 2016. They claimed that that the Jeep and its transmission system “possessed one or more defects in design, manufacture or otherwise which were known, or should have been known”.

The vehicle was recalled after 117 crashes and 28 injuries had been linked to the vehicles rolling off freely when drivers thought they had locked them in “park.”

Gary Dordick, who acted as the attorney for Viktor and Irina Yelchin, has said that the funds from the undisclosed settlement would benefit the Anton Yelchin Foundation for young sick and disabled people in the arts. In addition, the settlement money will also help fund a documentary about Anton’s life.

We look forward to seeing the continuation of his legacy.
