Netflix gave us an amazing adaptation of one of our favorite childhood novels with Anne with an E, but all good things must come to an end. The adaptation for Anne of Green Gables officially reached the end of the line after three amazing seasons.

Showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett announced the cancelation of this show in an official statement and thanked fans for following Anne’s adventures until the very end. “We have reached the end of the red Green Gables road after three wonderful seasons. My heart is heavy but I am so proud of this show – proud of my talented cast, crew, writers, and directors for working together so passionately to bring my vision of Anne with an E to life,” Walley-Beckett said.

The last episode of Anne with an E premiered on November 24th on CBC, but its creator is hoping this is not its final chapter. Despite the fact the series has been canceled, Walley-Beckett revealed she’d love to write a finale feature film to conclude this story.

The final season will be released on Netflix outside Canada on January 3, 2020.
