The lasted castings in Joker movie include two Hollywood A-listers.

While the standalone feature starring Joaquin Phoenix as the supervillain is modestly budgeted, the Todd Phillips’ helmed drama has tapped some major talent.

Alec Baldwin will star in Joker as Thomas Wayne, the father of Bruce Wayne aka Batman. The respected physician and philanthropist in Gotham City and his wife are murdered by the Joker, an episode which young Bruce witness — queue vigilante.

“Under the direction of Todd Phillips, the film centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of a man disregarded by society is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, additional castings include A-lister Robert De Niro and up and coming actors Marc Maron (Glow), and Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2).

Production on Joker will begin this fall.
